Default Choice of timestep - any general guidelines?

High I am relatively new to the CFD world, although I think I have decent experience in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Most of my problems involve enclosures with air and buoyant flows involving natural convection with passive cooling (i.e. no fans). Are there any general guidelines for choosing a timestep? Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Craig Hildreth
