Hello everybody,
currently I am meshing a volute and the blocking fits really well but the generated mesh is strange. The strange part is, that the mesh is not bad in the geometrically difficult part (tongue; there it is actually good) but in the easy one (see attached pictures). Any ideas where the problem is? My first tought was, that there is an vertice or edge to much, but I have checked all of that. Thanks a lot for your help and have a nice day! |

This is a geometry and meshing question, not a CFX question and really should have been posted there.
Anyway: You need to check that your face and edge projections are correct, and also check your element spacing along the edges to make it more even. Also: ANSYS has a turbo machine meshing package called turbogrid. It is designed to generate high quality meshes on turbumachines. You might find it easier to generate a good mesh in that package than ICEM.
