CFX local parallel on windows XP

HI, I have installed CFX on a windows machine (XP, quad core). and I tried to do the configuration based on the manual for MPICH. But I can not run the local parallel. I am just wondering if anyone has tired to setup mpich for local parallel. I would appreciate if someone could give more hint. thanks

I will use a Intel Quad core with Windows XP 64 bits, but i have a doubt. Is it difficult to make this configuration?

Do u have the license to run with 4 processors (cores)?

Re: CFX local parallel on windows XP

Yes I have the license. The problem is that I can easily use local parallel in linux installed on the same system (duoble boot system) but when it come to windows it doesn't work. I have followed all the steps in the manual, forewall, mpd service,... but when I use CFX local parallel using MPICH it prompts CFX terminated.

What is it? MPICH?

32 or 64 bit windows?

If 64 then it's MPICH2.

- did you install the service and start it - did you register your userid/password

It would help if you included some more information. Why does it say it is terminated, for example? How far does it get before terminating?

(It always gives a reason for termination in the .out file)

Re: CFX local parallel on windows XP

I have encountered the same problem with you, when I change my CPU from Core 2 duo to Core 2 Quad , this problem appears. Said:'CFX 5 partitioner executable****************' I have set up the new version of Ansys SP1, but there is no any improment. and the attempt on Linux 64bit OS are still prohibited. So depressed. If any one, have a good choice to settle this problem , Please speak it out.

Thanks.. Best Regards.

Re: CFX local parallel on windows XP

I have solved this problem.

The Ansys CFX 64bit can not execute "local parallel" function on Windows and Linux OS of 64Bit.

If you change your OS version (windows or linux)and ANSYS to 32bit, It will perfom very well.

Good luck.

Re: CFX local parallel on windows XP

hi, I´d like to simulate the 64 bits cfx in an Intel Quad core with 4 gb of memory RAM, using the windows xp (64 bits). Is it possible? Which is the setup in cfx solver of the cfx 64 bits? I don´t want to use Linux as the operacional system.

64 bits OS is prohibited

It is prohibited when using 64 bits cfx in an Intel Quad core based on a windows xp (64 bits)OS.

if you don't like the choice of Linux, you can select windows xp (32 bits), but the computational speed will be limited.

Re: 64 bits OS is prohibited

Hi,

Chen is wrong. CFX11 is supported under Win XP 64 bit. You will need parallel licenses to use all cores of your quad core CPU.

Re: 64 bits OS is prohibited

I have used the same formal issued license on the different OS.

Just as I have mentioned above the application to use 'local parallel' on the 64bit OS whether Windows xp or Linux is forbidened. But the application to use 'local parallel' on the 32bit OS is permitted

Maybe it is a bug of ansys 64bit itself. maybe there is some thing abnormal with the hardware of our computer.

I am sure it is not the problem of license

Re: 64 bits OS is prohibited

With this license below, Can I run in a quad core intel with windows xp 64 bits using ansys cfx-v11.0 64 bits? Does I need Service Pack 1 for using the 4 cores of this processor?
