why SST model???

Dear friends, I am solving external flow problem. Many people sugeested me to use SST model and interestingly, I got correct results with that. I tried K-w model which dint give proper results. I really dont know why SST gives better results and why not other models??? If someone asks why SST has been used in the case study, i dont have any answer.. Plz help me..

Thanks in advance...

Hi Vijay Is an innovative Turbulence model (Menter F. R.). The model works by solving a turbulence/frequency - based model K-w at the wall and k-e in the bulk flow. A blending function ensure the smooth transition between the two models

Try to put your hand on Menter's article on the SST (I know there are at least 2 of them). You can also have good info in books such as Wilcox or Versteeg & Malalasekera.

The idea behind the SST model is to take advantage of the good sides of the k-w model without having to deal with its sensitivity to the w value imposed more or less arbitrarily on the boundaries.

Other models could be interesting to test for your application: k-epsilon, Spalart-Almaras, etc...

Hi Felix i can not find the paper Menter.F.R "Zonal two eqution k-w turbulence models for aero dynamic flow"AIAA paper 93-2906,1993.for it can not be found in website of AIAA.the some of other paper by Menter.F.R quoted that one. there is more detail in that paper. can you help me to get this paper?
