ICEM-2D-Hybrid Mesh
Hi Folks!
hope someone is able to help me... I've got an 2D airfoil which should have a hexa-mesh at the complete surrounding boundry. lets say for approx. 5 layers. around that, my mesh should be the less exact tetra-mesh for the surrounding space. if it's not really clear, check out following link... it's actually EXACTLY my problem! http://www.ansys.com/products/icemcf...d/existing.htm so... what I wanted to do is to block the airfoil and generate an O-Grid around these blocks. then I deleted all the external and internal block (copied to VORFN) so that the rest of my blocks would only be my O-Grid which should be associated with my airfoil spline. when I press on "pre-mesh" it shows me a few layers and thats it. how do I generate a "normal" grid, as used in tetra? and then .... how do I create a treta mesh which connects to my hexa mesh? thanks dudes! |
Re: ICEM-2D-Hybrid Mesh
what is shown in the picture is not the hexa layers, they are prism layers followed by the tetra mesh. to create a prism layer, first you have to create the tet mesh and then define the prism layers. there is a tutorial for creating prism layer in ICEM, check it out

Re: ICEM-2D-Hybrid Mesh
U can use cfx meshing to create the tetra mesh (with prism mesh) and not the icem cfd!

I am stuck where exactly icem-noob is stuck.
I am trying to simulate the flow over a cylinder. I got the o-grid mesh around the cylinder but how do I get tri meshes in the surrounding region and also how do I connect the tri & o-grid meshes ??? Any kind of help is appreciated. |
