Hello everyone,
I am currently calculating design parameters for an axial multi-stage compressor and need to determine the arithmetic average of several variables to design it properly. One approach is to define monitor points, extract the data, and proceed with the analysis. However, I am dealing with a large number of parameters, and monitoring, for example, 15 variables at each interface is not efficient. Does anyone have suggestions on how to calculate the arithmetic average without relying on monitoring points? In CFX-Post, I can easily calculate the average using "ave," but it differs from the one in SM due to differences in calculation methods. Thanks in advance for your help! |

You can create the monitor points, and activate the monitor statistics for each point. You can multi-select which statistics to compute for each monitor point
Which release version are you using? Perhaps you have not explained the subtle details of your calculations? What exactly are you trying to simplify?

Hello,
I am using R23 and I would like to calculate various design parameters such as flow coefficient, degree of reaction, Mach number, and so on. I require these parameters for every passage, which means, for instance, 30 parameters (temperature, pressure, enthalpy, velocity components, etc.) at every interface. Therefore, for multistage, it is not an efficient method to define a monitoring point for each variable at each intersection. In the post-processing , it is very easy to obtain the mass flow average for these parameters. However, I am interested in obtaining the arithmetic average of these parameters over, for example, the last 50 iterations. Thank you for your assistance. |

1- Either you type the expression once in the preprocessor, and monitor it with live data, or 2- You wait for the simulation to finish, type the exact same expression, manage to have the 50 values you need, and attempt to do it in the post-processor. If your concern is the setting up of similar expressions multiple times, have you looked at "Ansys CFX power syntax via Perl". You can auto-generate the expressions, and import the model.
