Default Extracting Shedding Period.

Hi All,

I have done a fair bit about my project now (heated square cylinder in cross flow) but have an issue trying to relate my theoretical shedding frequency of 0.1seconds to the data from CFX (0.067sec).

I come to ask whether my method is possibly to blame. I have done seperate heat transfer analysis and have agreement with nusselt number from CFX and 2 textbook correlations, i have plotted the data in the user expressions part in solver and have been exporting it from there.

My trouble is when i measure the peak to peak time difference for say Qout(its oscillitary at SS) from the cylinder i get 0.067 seconds as my frequency. I have also place 2 monitor points for vorticity behind the cylinder int he wake , they also give results similar (0.06-0.08).

How do other people go about extracting this kind of flow information , as i cant enter it in as an expression to solve and plot.

Thanks, Richie
