[OFF] comparison CFX and Thirdwave

By the way, is there somebody here that already had worked with the Thirdwave program (WWW.THIRDWAVESYS.COM). I would like to make a comparison between CFX and Thirdwave, but i do not have this software nor the license of it.

Thanks for your contribution.

AdvantEdge™ FEM 5.1 - Third Wave AdvantEdge™ is a materials-based solution for the optimization of metal machining. This modeling software accurately predicts forces, tool temperature and wear, stresses, and strains. Use AdvantEdge™ to improve material removal rates, part quality, and tool performance while decreasing the need for trial and error testing â€" machine it faster, machine it better.

New in Version 5.1: • Tapping and boring • Turning and grooving with rotating workpiece • DXF and VRML tool import • Selective mesh refinement for STEP tool imports • STEP workpiece import Additional Capabilities: • Parallel processing upgrade • More than 120 workpiece materials • Nose and Oblique Turning • Indexable and Solid Milling and Drilling • Grooving / Sawing / Parting / Threading / Broaching • Residual Stress analysis • STEP and STL tool import • Integrates with Third Wave

Re: [OFF] comparison CFX and Thirdwave

Hi,

From your description Third wave sounds like a chip formation modelling program. CFX is a CFD software. There's not much in common there from what I can see. No point in comparing an apple to an orange.
