Our main product is ducting and bellows. I am trying to put together some simple models of a bellows, flow liners and straight tubing to develop some modeling methods that would match our empirical data.

My issue is trying to get good solid to represent the inside of the assembly. I know that I could recreate the inside geometry as a single solid from the prints, but I don't want that to be a habit. I have tried to use the fill command, but have not been able to get the proper geometry. Does CFX 'know' the inside by giving it a pair of 'outside' boundaries and an inside surface or some other method? Is there a way to slice the assembly in half in the modeling phase? I am open to other suggestions as well.

Thank you. Tom.

Hi,

If you want to slice it in half (I assume for symmetry) then use the symmetry tool in designmodeller.

The fill gizmo is very useful when extracting the internal void from a part. It is pretty good but not perfect, sometimes you need to help it by things like cleaning up the ends to be a single plane and filling small clearance gaps.
