total pressure drop and momentum source setting

I am doing simulations about the pressure drop through a vavle in CFX11.0. The simulations are quite smaller than the experiments. It is becoming worse after I refined the mesh. I don't know why. I calculated the total pressure using this equation: massflowave(total pressure)@location and get the pressre drop between the inlet and outlet. Would you give me any hints to improve the simulations? I use k-e model and I am sure the results are converged at 1.0E-5 with max residual.

As to momentum source setting, I had a look at the help documents. I am not sure that I understood them well. Is that true that isotropical loss model and directional loss model are used in porous resistence? In my case, should I use the general momentum source if I want to try another way to do the simulations.

If you have any suggestions, please tell me. Thank you very much!

Re: total pressure drop and momentum source settin

Li,

Monitoring total pressure gives you how much energy the fluid lost through your device. Pressure drops are usually measured in terms of Static Pressure.
