Hello,

How can I restart a crashed simulation using the last back-up file (.bak)? My simulation is a distributed parallel run between 13 processors running Linux, and I start it from the command line using a shell script. Thanks!

Hi, On windows, if its a full backup file just rename your .bak file to .res and you can restart.

Hi, thanks for your response. You say "if its a full backup file." Does this mean including all the variables or does it mean just the primitive variables (P,u,v,w) and the mesh? Thanks!

No need renaming the file. You can just start the solver using the backup:

cfx5solve -def File.def -ini iteration.bak

Off course it will only "restart" the variables available on the backup file. So, if you only saved P, U, V, W, these will be the only variables "restarted".
