symmetry boudary condition

I have used symmetry boundary condition for the front and back face of the rectangular cuboid for a 2D case. Do I need to specify the same symmetry boundary conditions for the 3D case of same simulation.??? or leave these faces as walls by default.??? any suggestion?? thanks

Re: symmetry boudary condition

Hi Sir MAB,

for 3D, leave as an adiabatic wall, but choose a big width on z direction. when u make a 2d analysis, there is a need to develop a 3D model wide enough to eliminate the wall effects on the calculation, with the objective of comparing with the 2D results widely shown in literature.

For 2D (i donīt know how much is your thickness, maybe would it be of one millimeter?) use the symmetry condition, as you have been used.

Be of good cheer !
