Butterfly simulation

I'd like to calculate torque for butterfly valve. There is only 3 data known: diameter of pipe, pressure before disc and i know that air is outletting to atmosphere. Is it possible to simulate in CFX? What kind boundary conditions have to set (opening or inlet and outlet)? And the last question: How can i calculate a torque on the shaft? Thank you for your advices. Regards.

Re: Butterfly simulation

Hi,

Possible - yes.

BCs - upstream probably an inlet with prescribed pressure. Downstream an outlet with zero pressure.

Torque - You can get that from CFX-Post or as a monitor point in the simulation.

Re: Butterfly simulation

Where exactly should I set BCs into geometry? I put an inlet on entry and outlet at the end of pipe. And solver has crashed. Only openning BC works, but I'am not sure about correctness of this solution.
