I am modelling the heat transfer between a solid and a liquid. There are three rectangular domains totally: 2 domains for solid and one for liquid. They are in perfact contact.
However, due to a very small thickess of the second domain compare to other two domains (20 nanometer vs. 20 micron) and the minimum mesh size of 0.5 micron, i could not inlcude this layer in the model. basing on the theory that the amount of sensible heat passing through this layer is: Q= m*c*deltaT=density*volume*c*deltaT=density*thickne ss*c*(deltaT*Area) c is specific heat capacity. Because Q, area and delta T are constant, so I changed the thickness of the domain. In this case, I increased the thickness and changed density and capacity accordingly. Then I used thick thick layer in the model. however, I am not sure it is whether it is sensible or not. Anybody have idea? pls. advise me. Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
In CFX V12 you could define it as a thermal contact resistance. But what you describe should work. Glenn Horrocks |
