how i can approch the problem about shock wave

HI

In hollow hemispherical chamber one small rectangular object is placed, from that object arc will be generated, due to this the temperature and pressure raises in the chamber.I need to find out the T and P at different locations inside the chamber.

i am having the data of input heat energy generated from the arc.

can any body suggest that how can I approach this problem and how can I take this problem in CFX (is CFX is accurate method to find P and T)

Thank you

Hi,

The simplest approach is to define the arc as a heat source with the gas modelled as a compressible gas (ie use the total energy thermal model). Providing this approach is physically valid it is accurate. If things like the chemistry of the arc or details of what happens immediately next to the arc are important you might need to go to more detailed models, but the starting point is a simple heat source.
