Hi to all,

I have to mesh a 3d very thin geometry. I tried every types of meshing in CFX and I decided to use 2d extruded mesh. It is the best for me. But I have a problem about extruded periodic pair!!! I have to enter the different periodic pairs in only one location according to the program. In my geometry I have a thin body in the big one. To provide periodic pairs I splitted it to 3 body(up pair; middle pair which is the same level with the inner body; down pair).I hope I could explain my problem and please I need your help!!!

Thanks...!

Why don´t u build a 3d geometry with a thin lenght on z-direction, instead of making only a 2D?

Hi again,

I did volume mesh with advancing front and ınflation 3d method. But my inner body has 0.1 mm thickness so I used very small face spacing. but it gave me plenty numbers of tethedral elemans. I don't want it. extruded 2d mesh will give me what I want, I suppose! I have already splitted my geometry to 3 body on z direction which one has 0.1 mm thickness as the same level with inner body to provide periodicity.

Mr.Brito, I suppose that my first method is the same with your opinion, but if I'm wrong could you please explain it to me...!

Hi,

Can you post an image of the geometry?

My volume (air) has totaly 2.1 mm thickness. In the middle, I have a 0.1 mm solid body. I splitted my volume to 3 part 1 mm -0.1 mm -1 mm (thicknesses) on z direction. I did it to have periodic pairs. Air is covering the solid and to use 2d extruded mesh ı have to have periodic pairs. But my problem is when ı finish the mesh, 0.1 mm solid is looking as it has 1 mm thickness and it is becoming apart from the air( I mean I'm having a meaningless blank in the volume).

I'm sorry for not sending any image....!
