Fan rotating model

Dear CFD Friends,

I need your helps and suggestions on developing transient rotating Fan which is in the room. I need to capture the flow behavior of transient rotational effect. Kindly provide me how to to do Domain interfacing and what MFR to be used.

Thanks and regards Raj

Hi,

To capture transient behaviour in a rotating machine you need the transient-rotor-stator model.

This is all discussed in detail int he documentation and there are some tutorial examples to help you get started. Have a look in the documentation. There is also a best practices guide for turbomachines which you should look at.

Hi Glenn,

Thanks a lot for your email. I have gone thru the materails.

Kindly let me know what kind of interface should we put between stationary and rotating domain to capture the swirl flow. What do I need to set in solver expert parameter setting?

I tried with the model with stator and rotor interface. But I am not able to get the swirl pattn and not able to see the proper momentum transfer across the domain.

Thanks and regards Raj

Hi,

The interface you need should be clear after you do the tutorial examples.

No need for expert parameters, the default solver options should be fine.

What do you mean "proper momentum transfer"?
