I have recently had the following errors pop up when I have been loading Ansys Workbench.

"Automation server can't create object"

"AWP Global Preference - Failed determining temp directory location!"

Does anyone know how this can be fixed? It appears to be a problem only with workbench.

Thanks.

Although this topic has been posted a long time ago, unfortunately there was no solution to be found / posted. As I contacted the Ansys support and got help, I would like to share the solution and as this topic was found via google among the first hits, perhaps it helps - if not, feel free to delete it!

Starting point - for me - was an Ansys workbench crash. After reopening the project the Ansys meshing application always quits with the following error "Failed determining temp directory location":

Hitting the Ok button and wondering, how this could be possible, the next window pops up:

Meaning, that the temp directory could be found for writing the dump file, but not for meshing. But following this, the last error window appears:

Unfortunately, none of the settings within the workbench options dialog seemes wrong. Even after changing the temp directory location. So I called the support, concluding in the following solution:
- entering the path %appdata% (something like: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming)
- renaming the Ansys folder to Ansys.old (or deleting it)
- relaunching workbench
and it worked.

Regards!
