I am just wondering how can I set the initial conditions in a transient simulation. in my knowledge, I can set the global intial conditions in pre or use a steady state simulation results as intial condisitons. Am I right? which one is better in terms of convergence speed.

many thanks

You can do both, but obviously using a steady state state solution yields faster convergence as you don't need as much iterations to achieve a statistical "steady" state.
