Default Mapping Velocity Field as an Inlet Boundary

Hello,


I need to map a measured velocity field as an inlet boundary condition on CFX. It is first time I do this. Is there any tutorial/video or sth about mapping?

Export the boundary velocity Results and put them in a table of X,y,z,velocity.
change xyz values to match the geometry location of your new model.
Save as text tab delimited.

In CFX-PRE Use the user function and make a 3D interpolation function.
Argument units: m,m,m (or whatever units you exported them)
Result Units: m/s (or whatever units you exported them)
Import your text file.

You can use this expression as velocity boundary condition now: MyFunction(x,y,z)

thanks evcelica! I have the velocity data (x,y,z components) measured on the dotted line (Please see the figure attached). You can assume it is a quarter of an hollow cylinder. The velocity profile on any radial direction at the inlet will be same as the velocity profile on the dotted line.


What I am planning to do is to generate the velocity data over whole inlet (from single radial line to whole area) on matlab, save it as an csv file and then import it to CFX-Pre, use the user function.

Another question mark in my mind is, when I do all the things explained above, I will have the velocity field data defined only in finite number of discrete points at the inlet. How do I deal with that?
