Error : floating point exception; overflow.
Hello
I simulate a conjugate heat transfer model. I have received an error message from running cfx solver. Error: floating point exception; overflow. Do you have any idea about the cause of this problem? Thanks very much |
Check the mesh to avoid zero volume cells.

Hello, I had the same problem running k-epsilon and omega simulations in star-ccm+. When I refined the mesh to 5E6 cells I got the floating point exception error after 17-27 iterations. My initial pressure was set to 0, because I was working with low Re and pressures. When I changed my initial pressure to 8 Pa and my turbulence from length scale to k- epsilon everything went smooth again. I am simulating flow over a packed bed of spheres.

Umm, right. As has been mentioned many times in this forum floating point exception simply means the linear solver has diverged big-time. This cna be caused by many things, either a unphysical setup or inadequate numerical stability being the main ones. You have to do something to increase the numerical stability of the simulation.
