Background Image in Post

Hi
I am trying to overlay some simulation results onto a picture of the geometry that I have used. I choose the picture as background Image in Post, but the picture is stretched, so when I print the result the new background is very different from the original background.

Post stretches the picture in some strange way to make it fit into the viewer, has anybody else done something like this?

Hi there!

I checked your problem some minutes ago and understand your problem. The thing ist that CFX-Post stretches the background-image. You can show this effect even more if you make the 3D-Viewer-Window bigger or smaller.

Very simple suggestion:

Size your screen in CFX-Post the way you want it, make a screenshot and dont make it bigger/smaller after that. Than open a grafic-programm (i just used ms paint) and cut away everything but not the 3d-viewer-window. Now you can check how many pixels this area has, for example 573*185. Open a new painting and create a background with exactly this size. Copy your Image into this background and save the painting as background.jpg. After that, load this backgroundimage.

Hope you understand what i mean, if not just ask again!

I am trying your tip now, but it seems like Post still wants to stretch the image, do you know how Post stretches? Is to fit height or width, or some other rule?

Post will fit the height and width. When you go to print the image, specify the print dimensions to be the same as the image and you'll get the right aspect ratio, though if you are trying to get your object in a specific location it might prove difficult.

An alternative may be to create a plane using the sample option and setting the dimenstions of the plane to be that of your picture. You could then map your image onto the plane as a texture.

Maybe it is a better choice to do this within TECPLOT.
