Dear all,

I had two questions about CFX transient simulation.

First one, how can we superimpose the profile of a certain variable (such as velocity u, v or w function of another variable such as z coordinate ) from different trn files (at different time) into a single chart viewer in the post-cfx, in order to make a good comparison of the velocity variable in the time dependent process please?

Second one, suppose we got a velocity u profile at a certain location(a polyline) in the chart viewer, assuming there is fluid moving outwards (along x+ direction), and also fluid moving inwards (along x- direction), according to the mass conservation, the former should equal with the latter, but in this very case, how can we check mass conservation according to the chart viewer please ? Is there any tool in CFX post that we can use to verify please?

Thank you very much in advance.

Harry

Hi,

Point 1 - There is a interpolate function in CFX which can calculate the difference between two datasets, even on dissimilar meshes. Is this of use?

Point 2 - A line has no area so there is no mass flux through it. You can calculate the mass flux at the inlets and outlets using the function calculator and they will sum to approximately zero (with the accuracy of your convergence).

Hello Glenn,

Thanks for your input. could you pls tell me more about interpolate function? I'm not quite familiar with it. Do you have any detailed information about it? Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Look in the documentation. It is under command line tools, cfx5interp.
