Import data history

Hi everyone,
I try to import datas that I save like .txt or .xml from CFX simulation or Thermal-Electric simulation to every kind of mechanical simulation...
Even if the file is not empty i have this error:
'either the specified location is incorrect or the source at that location contains no data'.
Does somebody know why and what I can do?
Thanks!!

Hi,

What are you trying to do? Use the result of a CFX or Thermal-Electric simulation as the input to a mechanical simulation? In this case you are trying to do a one-way coupled FSI simulation. There are tutorial examples showing how to do this. Also note the FSI capabilities of ANSYS were significantly enhanced in V12 so if you are not on the current version you should catch up.

My idea is to link CFX and Thermal-Electric in both directions.

I need to simulate the behaviour of a structure that has joule heating and a fluid flow.
So to do this I think I have to:
1) create a geometry, fix BC and voltage, obtain the heat flux with thermal-electric and export it
2) import the heat flux in CFX, or the temperature obtained from the thermal-electric and simulate the flow
3) import in a new thermal-electric the flow behaviour and simulate...

thanks!!!!!

elecromagnetics are enabled as beta in cfx v11, fully supported in v12

you need to define electromagnetic properties for the materials

in your case for inlet electric field BC you can define Conservative Interface Flux, Flux in, Voltage, or Zero Flux. if you dont have magnetic field inlet should be Zero Flux and at the outlet 0 on x,y,z Cartesian Magnetic Potential Components

in V11 you need to define a bulk source jouleheating subdomain which is (1 / Electrical Conductivity) * abs( ( Current Density Y )^2) not sure if in V12 as I dont have acess to it yet

I'm using the last version V12.
Thank you very very much!

Hi,

So it sounds like you should be able to do what you want using the standard FSI capabilities in CFX and ANSYS Mechanical. No need to develop your own FSI interface.

Right, it is possible, using MFX that couples ANSYS Mechanical with FSI in CFX.

Thank you everyone.
