auto-savig the results , .res files

hi friends:
how can i save my cfx results before the run finishes manualy or automaticaly?i mean i want not to loose my results for example when the system turns off suddenly and i want to use my results as the initial file for the next restart run!!

obviously you need to set the output control to create bak and what information you want on the res files. with version 12 its a bit of a mess realy to find the bak files. all simulation files are saved (that includes def bak and res files on your temp directory) and once the simulation s finished and saved they are copied on your working directory. i dont particulary like that much automation and I only create the mesh on workbench and fire up cfx on its own.

Hi,

You can save backup files (if steady state) or full transient output files (is transient) by the settings on the output tab in CFX-Pre. You can set them by various time increments or iteration number or whatever.

If you want to do a backup of a run currently going then press the backup button. That will do a backup file at the end of the current iteration (if steady state) or time step (if transient).

glenn i think if you run a simulation within workbench it deletes the backup files once you complete and save a simulation

Hi,

I don't run CFX inside WB. That is one reason why.

hi:
i have .bak and . trn files...but they can not be used as the initial files for the next restart???

ghorrocks June 24, 2009 08:00

Hi,

.bak and .trn files CAN be used for initial conditions, but only if they contain all necessary variables. If you only select a few variables in your trn files then you will not have enough to define an initial condition and it won't work.
