Don't even consider doing this in anything but CFX V12. It is very easy in V12 using the new submerged grid, but near on impossible in any previous version. They even have a tutorial example in V12 of a gear pump so that will show you exactly how to do it.

Talk to your CFX representative about getting V12. They can get you the documentation and arrange a trial etc. This type of simulation is extremely difficult in V11 or earlier but easy in V12 so don't waste your time with anything else.

Have a look on the ANSYS website and try a google for something like "CFX immersed solid". Also contact your CFX support person, or if you are a student contact the professor who is in charge of CFX.
