Hi Colleagues:
I want to simulate a vertical pump using Ansys CFX. I have the geomtry of the bowl and the impeller(negative) in Solidedge18 as solid *.part files. I am new simulating Hpumps. The thing is do I need surfaces or solid components to start the simulation? I want to create the mesh but I dont know if I have to mesh the whole solid or not. I have try to find some tutorials but I have not found anything yet on the internet. I want to mesh the bowl as one file and the impeller in a second file, then how can I connect them once they are discretized as meshes? Thans |

Export your part file as a parasolid file, import it in icem for meshing, connect them in solid edge if possible and after importing in icem create part names, save one file with one domain suppose your impeller(by deleting other geometry),mesh it,save the mesh, then open another and mesh it.define frozen rotor interface between rotatting domain and stationary domain. For FR interface u will require two surfaces from two geometries. And define one body point as orfn(in icem mesh) for solid volumes.

what you need is the fluid body. you can create the geomtery of your sump in workbench, then subtract the pump's body from that. this will give you the proper geometry for flow modelling.

There are tutorials available to connect two separately meshed components.
This discusses the modeling and meshing: http://people.civil.aau.dk/~i5mr/mhp/cm_tutorials.pdf This discusses the setup and solution: http://www.kxcad.net/ansys/ANSYS_CFX...als/index.html The flow in a mixing tube is a good one to study the geometry process. |
