hi

I need to export results data (velocity, kinetic energy and dissipation..etc)from CFX results file in order to post-process using fortran, to do that I have to know the block connectivity and the number of blocks used in constructing the computational domain (using ICEM).

does any body know how to get information about block number and how are they connected.

thanks

Hi,
In the CFX result file there was no information about blocks and their connectivity according to my experience!!!!.

What do you mean by blocks? Cell count? If so CFX post will give you cell count in the function calculator (Count>Domain). Does this help?

kingjewel1: Thanks for reply

My geometry is created (in ICEM) using structured multi-block mesh (hexahedral elements). In order to use the solution data i need to export the CFX results file. Hence, in order to get the data for each node i need to find out the block number (including their dimensions, i.e., each block has number of nodes along I, J and K) and how these blocks are connected. Unfortunatly, i did not find out anything in CFX manual about the block number and block connectivity.

Any suggestions...

It seems CGNS could provide the information you need. Export the results into a CGNS file for FORTRAN.
I am not sure, just for your reference.

CFX is an unstructured code. There are no i,j,k numbers or block information, regardless of where your mesh came from, there are only node numbers.
