Hi all,
I'm working on a spray simulation with liquid evaporation model. The simulation stopped in the partitioning stage and gave the following error message. Do you guys have any idea about this? Thanks for your help! Jeff Details of error:- ---------------- Error detected by routine MAKDAT CDANAM = COUPLED_COMP CDTYPE = CHAR ISIZE = 20 CRESLT = OLD Current Directory : /FLOW/PHYSICS/ZN1/PT1/MT4 +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Stopped in routine MEMERR | | | | | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | An error has occurred in cfx5solve: | | | | The ANSYS CFX partitioner exited with return code 1. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ This run of the ANSYS CFX Solver has finished. |

Looks like an error in the setup, probably in the particle tracking (I assume you are using this to track the droplets).

Thanks ghorrocks.
I agree with you. Do you have any idea about the directory "MT4"? Is the error related to the material properties of droplets? |

I would guess MT = Mass Transfer. Check the fluid-pair data between the fluids and the particles.

Hi jeff,
just out of curiosity, is there a particular pressure/velocity value that indicates/defines that a liquid is spraying out from the nozzle and not dripping please? look forward to hear from you.

It depends on what liquid you are using. The atomization process is related to Weber number. If you want to know more, you can read "Atomization and Sprays" by H. Lefebvre

Hello again Jeff,
i would like to try to perform a simulation to determine the required nozzle dimension so that i can achieve fluid jetting out at the outlet. in the model, i am thinking of including the following parts: 1) nozzle geometry 2) air geometry 3) fluid geometry boundary conditions: 1) inlet fluid mass flow rate 2) fluid outlet pressure is 0Pa relative to 1atm 3) but how do i deal with the interface between fluid and air please? Look forward to hear of your comments on simulating jet/spray.

Are you working on VOF? I'm also exploring this field and not very familiar with it.
For the first trial, I may set it as a mixture first. |
