hello guys
As cfx doesnt solve 2d domains, I wanted to mesh a thin 2-d body with hexahedral meshes in CFX mesher. but its only default is tetrahedral meshes! can anybody help me?

Hello!
CFX-mesh is actually designed for creating tetrahedral meshes. But if you really want to get a hexahedral mesh with it, then you need to create an inflated boundary on one of the thin surfaces (so that the inflated layers expand through the whole geometry). Then click Options -> meshing strategy -> extruded 2D mesh. After that you will have to select two appropriate faces for a periodic pair (translational or rotational).

I want to know whether i can link Design Modeler in Ansys workbench with ICEMCFD or not? It seems ICEM is more approperiate for CFD meshes than CFX-Mesher, I want to solve my problem with CFX, however.

No you can't, Icem is standalone. You can however open the agdb file created by DM (workbench reader in ICEM), create a mesh and then import the mesh (right mouse click an empty mesh block in the project schematic) in workbench.

As a general question, I want to know which application is more suited for creating meshes for CFX solver, regarding that in the ansys Mesher help it is recommended that cfx users switch to another application from CFX-Mesher because it is going to replaced in newer releases. I want to start learning and working with a comprehensive meshing application that will its usage can be assured. What do you suggest? thank you in advance...

The ansys tetrahedral mesher (patch conforming/independent) is succeeding the old cfx-mesher. In my experience it produces better meshes and is much faster and more robust than the old cfx-mesher (once you're familiarized with the new options/controls).

When you need a very good mesh (hexahedral), you'll often have to resort to ICEM, which is more complex to handle.

How can I find a thorough CFX-Mesher guide except that of the ansys help, along with tutorials and worked out examples?

Hello
I want to generate a mesh on my 3-d geometery but i need to specify line and surface meshes first and then volume mesh.
Does the procedure starts by using line controls or just inflated boundary? what is the difference of these? Plus I want to know what is triangle control in the control branch of tre view?
Thank you in advance....

There is a bunch of tutorials and worked examples on the CFX Community site.

If you work through the tutorials on the CFX Community site you will know how to do this.
