Problem importing the images to ansys workbench
1 Attachment(s)
I have attached solid part which I converted from medical images using Amira 5.2.2 .I want to import this model into ansys workbench . I tried it . I could not . I save the file as solid part but I cannot save it as IGS format. I dont know why?
I need your help to import the images to ansys workbench for further analysis

Thank you

Before you even try to import a body like this you will need to have a lot of experience in importing and exporting formats in solid modelling packages. There is not going to be an easy way to do it, so you will have to do some research.

Dear Mr ghorrocks
Thank you very much. I just ask you can you give me some tips how to import this geometry to ansys workbench for further analysis.

mhsr October 29, 2010 06:38

If you have access to ICEM you could try to export your Amira Mesh into STL format which can be imported by ICEM and after that be meshed by ICEM too. I think we had a similar case when importing the "point cloud" of a 3D laser scan by that method - your image looks like such an interpolated point cloud.

Yes, you are much more likely to get a good result from ICEM then workbench. I would forget workbench for now and concentrate on ICEM.

Medical images for CFX analysis
1 Attachment(s)
Dear friends
Thank you verymuch for your tips and advice. actually I want to do flow analysis in the artery using ANSYS CFX .The attached picture is an example for my further work. I am trying this example from amira. For fluid flow analysis, assume I have to fill fluid in the leg part as shown in the fig . This option is available in the ansys work bench . How can I fill the fluid here for further analysis in CFX .

Kindly give me a tips for this . Thanks for your advice.

:) ICEM is a meshing package.... You generate meshes for CFX in ICEM....

I go back to my first post on this thread. This is going to be a tricky exercise and not something to be done by the beginner. If you have not used ICEM before then forget about your anatomical model for a while and do EVERY tutorial you can get. You will have to be a very competent user of ICEM before even starting.

Medical images for CFX analysis
Dear friends

If you look at my medical images at the bottom, there is an annular portion. For example I want to do fluid analysis in the annular portion how to fill the fluid in the annular space with fluid. Also I want to edit some of the portion in this model, how to do it?. The medical images are reconstructed into 3D model using amira.

Kindly help me to proceed further.

Thanks in advance

Your question is too vague to be answerable. And you are not likely to get any useful comments as there are many steps and be far to complicated to explain on the forum.

So, for the third time, I recommend that you do all the tutorials on ICEM you can. If you want to improve quickly you should consider an ICEM training course.

ICEM has a number of tools which will be useful in geometries like this but you really need to get familiar with ICEM yourself to use them properly.

Your question is akin to asking, "I'd like to build a Formula 1 race car. Can someone tell me how to do it?

Your best bet is to have a professional do the work for you and show you how he did it.

Cfx analaysis
Dear Mr. Ghorrocks
Thank you for your valuable guidelines. I will try to learn ICEM .mean while I know ANSYS CFX. Kindly let me know will it possible to do the fluid analysis in the cfx with this medical images.
Thank you

I have seen papers of people using CFX doing analysis on geometry from medical images so, yes, CFX can do it.
