License

Hi,

in our company we have a few HPC packs and 6 parallel licenses. Is there a way to define the kind of license for a run? I would like to start a run on 6 cores, but without using a HPC pack...

Thanks in advance,
Claudia

There's a -preferred-license argument you can pass to the solver, see page 115 in xmgr.pdf

Ah, ok. That's a good hint, but how can I find the name of the license I have to use?

One way to get the name of all of the licenses you've got is to run anslic_admin, usually found at:
<cfxroot>/shared_files/licensing/lic_admin/anslic_admin
Then, goto View Status/Diagnostic Options > Display the License Status

You should get a list of number of licenses, how many that are in use, etc, and also the names of them.
For example, academic licenses are called aa_r, aa_r_hp, aa_t_i...
I think there's a list somewhere on Ansys' website with all of the names.

Thanks Lance!
I tried to use the displayed names, but nothing worked. But in the license manager you can save the preferences for the user. So I changed HPC and Parallel and now it works.

Talk to ANSYS about buying more parallel licenses.
