local parallel overflow error

I am simulating a two-phase tank sloshing .
In the solver manager when I define the run if I run it as serial it is fine but if I do a local parallel and partition it, I get overflow error!
Why is this happening? what should I do?

I have got the same problem with a single-phase-simulation including a stage-interface and one interface with rotational periodicty. I helped myself by starting the simulation as a serial simulation. After a few iteration I stopped the simulation and then started it again with the parallel option activated.
But of course, I am also very interested in the reason that is responsible for that error. If I remember correct, the error messages says, that there is not enough memory available. In my case memory allocated was about 500 megabyte and later on the solver asked for about 10 gigabyte...

I tried running first as serial and after stopping making it prallel but it didn't work for me.
I dont get memory error, i beleive I have enough memory, but I get overflow error when its parallel.

Same problem

Hello enghamed,

Did you ended up figuring out your problem????
Which was the cause of your overflow? I´m interested to know, I may have the same problem.

This happens a very small amount of the time. The usual cause is a free surface or some other high gradient thing (eg shock wave) aligned with a partition boundary. The usual fix is to use a different partitioning algorithm to move the boundaries to somewhere with more gentle gradients.
