conjugate heat transfer
Hi,
I am intrigued here. I read in ANSYS-CFX solver theroy guide for v12 "CFX enables you to create solid regions in which the equation for heat transfer are solved, but with no flow. This is known as conmjugate heat transfer ...." So if I have let say three stacks of solids and a fluid flowing on one of them, CFX do not solve this problem? In other words I have to deal with the heat conduction and convection problem separately? If so, why did ANSYS promotes it has such solvers? or am I missing something again. Cheers, TAW |

I have no idea what you are asking. But I can assure you CFX can model solid domains coupled to fluid domains. Jumping to conclusions about misleading advertising is always a bit dangerous when you do not understand what they are talking about.

I think you are assuming you can model solid heat transfer OR fluid flow but not both. This is not correct. A single domain has to be either a fluid or solid domain, but a simulation can have multiple domains. The multiple domains are linked with interfaces so the solid is coupled to the fluid.
So there is no problem solving a solid region and a fluid region simultaneously. This is what CHT simulation is all about. |
