Solar Updraft Tower
Hey..I am doing a research on solar updraft tower and i want to use ANSYS CFX to simulate the solar updraft tower. I am having problems with the boundary conditions.. For the inlet i have used the boundary type OPENING with a defined value of static pressure. The outlet i have used the boundary type OUTLET with static pressure as 0Pa.For the base, the collector wall and the chimney wall i have used the boundary type WALL with mass and momentum as free slip wall and heat transfer as adiabatic.. For the domain i have used air ideal gas with buoyancy model as buoyant and i have specified the gravity and the reference density as well as the reference location. for the heat transfer model i have used total energy and the turbulence model as laminar. i also have provided the value for insolation for the collector..Can someone help me with the boundary conditions for the Solar Updraft Tower...

Sounds OK so far. Note that the flow probably is turbulent so your selection of a laminar model is probably wrong. What is not working in yuour model?

I am trying to compare my CFX results to a real experimental model results but the temperature change in the solar updraft tower is not matching. So, i am thinking that something is wrong with my boundary conditions or domain conditions.

Sounds reasonable. But as I have no idea of the experiment you are comparing to or the details of how you set up your simulation I cannot see how we are going to be much help. You are going to have to figure this one out.

I am trying to compare my results with this results from this journal paper (Experimental and theoretical performance of a demonstration solar chimney model-part 2: Experimental and theoretical results and economic analysis) by N. Pasumarthi and S. A. Sherif.

CFD simulation of solar chimney power plant in two dimension aspect the boundary conditions may be taken as:
the glass roof should be given convection with heat transfer coefficient of 6 W/m2.C, inlet and outlet as zero pressure and inlet and outlet portion with 0 pressure. and the ground as heat flux of 600 W/m2. but the program gives the AMS error and the computer locks. |
Sorry I do not understand. Is this a question or a statement?
