Hello!

I would like to simulate the following scenario:

- flow over an oscillator (beam) -> Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI)
- particle tracking during oscillation of the beam
- capture (immobilization) when particle touches the beam's surface

I know, that particles can be introduced and tracked in post-processing. However, my scenario requires a simultaneous simulation of flow and particle flow. Furthermore, the particles should be captured and counted when they hit the beam's surface.

Would it be possible to simulate this scenario with CFX?

Thank you!

Cheers,

Julian

Sounds possible. You can define a 0 restitution factor on the beam for the particles so when they hit it they stick. You can count these in post-processing.

Thanks for the reply.

In the 'Solver Theory Guide', I have seen the 'stick-to-the-wall model'. That would be exactly what I need.

FSI is possible, as well. Thus, CFX seems to be a good choice.
