Hi all

I got the following error while doing FSI simulation inside a straight tube.

A negative ELEMENT volume has been detected. This is a fatal error and execution will be terminated

Does inappropriate boundary condition result in this error? If not, what the problem is. I used a time dependent velocity distribution at inlet.

Thank you
Regards,
AshtonJ

Negative element volume is probably a mesh problem, so first check your mesh.

When your deformation in solid domain is large, this error always be occur. One of the limitation of FSI simulation is it. you most use smaller time step.

YEAH,i also encounter the same problem. I learn to use the rigid body .but if the force was applied the mesh motion will destroy the elements....how to solve the problem? are there someone know how to use the rigid body and how to write the formula or CEL for it?

rigid body solution is different from FSI solution.cloud you explain more?

you know ,rigid body is another type of simulation of FSI,

Increase the mesh stiffness near smaller elements or where you have folder mesh. Use a smaller time step.
