Hello everyone.
I simulate generator thermal behavior with the fan on the outlet side of the fan. But this fan contains many elements which increases computational effort during solving. My question is: Is it possible to replace the fan geometry with its characteristic (airflow vs. pressure drop)?? I heard that it is possible in Fluent but I don't know if it works in CFX. Any reply will help. Thanks a lot. |

Yes, use a momentum source and link the source term to an equation describing the fan characteristic curve.

Thanks a lot. Just another question on which domain should I put it?? I have several domains that define generator and I would need to know where to define this equation. Is it on inlet domain??

You can put sources on boundaries, or define sub-domains and apply it to volumes. Whatever is most appropriate in your case.

thanks a lot. I still have some issues concerning expressions. Is there any tutorial on that?

Several of the tutorials use CEL expressions. I am not in my usual office today so cannot list them for you but I know the free surface flow over a bump one uses it and so do several others.
