GPGPU for CFX?

Hi all,

I'm researching ground effect aerodynamics and am looking into GPGPU to speed up the solution time. I have two multicore processes and an NVIDIA Quadro 4000 GPU with 256 CUDA cores that I want to take advantage of, running on a Windows 7 x64 OS. Do I have to do anything special in the setup to distribute the job between the two processes and the GPU?

Thanks.

The special thing you have to do is to forget CFX move to software which supports it. I do not know of any commercial CFD codes which support GPUs at the moment but there are some open source ones.

I think Fluent has had some changes made so that GPUs can be used to do some specilised parts of the solution such as radiation ray tracing. But I know of no commercial CFD code which uses GPUs to assist in the main solver function.

Fair enough. Thanks anyway.

Hey, I know this is an old thread... but I'd like to know if the situation has changed since then.

I primarily am interested in running my STAR-CCM+ and Pro-STAR simulations on the Nvidia Quadro 2000 GPU in my workstation.

Thanks.

No change to my knowledge. CFX still does not support GPUs, Fluent supports it for a small number of peripheral models (eg radiation) but if you want proper GPU support you are going to have to move to another code.

I have no idea about Star-CD, you are asking on the wrong forum for that.

Alright. Thanks.. that was prompt :)
