COMSOL, Saffman Lift force in Particle tracing module
Hello, I am using Comsol to simulate microchannel flow which involves particle suspensions. I need to input the inertial lift/Saffman force to better model the particle behavior. From the available modules, i don't see any Saffman force or inertial lift ones. I have activated drag force and Fluid particle interaction module.
Is there any other module which can mimic the Saffman lift force in Comsol? Your response will really help me in my research (P.S. This is no appeal to solve homework) |

Please upgrade your Comsol version and read its Lift Force A dedicated Lift Force feature is now available for the Particle Tracing for Fluid Flow interface. Lift forces are relevant when particles move in a nonuniform fluid velocity field. The drag force acts in parallel with the fluid velocity with respect to the particle, whereas the lift force typically acts normal to it. Two different formulations of the lift force are available: Saffman and Wall induced. The Saffman formulation for lift force is applicable to inertial particles in a shear flow that are an appreciable distance away from boundaries. The specialized Wall induced formulation is available for neutrally buoyant particles in channels. regards |

Hello everyone,
look for the reference requested and here I attach the respective screenshot, it is worth noting that version 5.3a of the program is being used. Atte. :)  |

I am trying to model particle separation in curvature microchannel. However, I have a difficulty in applying effective forces (i.e. dean and lift) on particles.
I believe that I should redefine my own equations as they are either different or not found in comsol. Thus, can anyone helps me to define the forces correctly? |
