I was wondering if there was a way to extract the position of fuel droplets and other parcel data from the converge output file.

I know that we can simply view it in Paraview quite easily, but I'm at a point of wanting to quantify the number (and size? mass?) present in a certain volume.

I've had a look at the VTK for Python but it seems to be more about generating objects in python and saving in VTK format instead of opening VTK and extracting data within it.

Does anyone have any idea?

Hi Chris,

You can convert the post files to the Column Format (Option 4) using post_convert. The converted files will include the positions, velocities, SMD etc of the parcels. Then you can use a script to figure out the parcels within a volume. If you can define the volume as a region, it will be easier. You can define the volume as region 0 and use "Column Format - Region 0 only" (Option 5). Then you will be able to see the coordinates and other variables.

Thanks,

Yunliang
