As CONVERGE offers compressible solver, can it be used to capture the shock wave in studying the phenomena, such as engine knock, detonation?
What will limit the confidence/accuracy in capturing shock wave in CONVERGE. Recommendations on relevant papers using CONVERGE are welcomed. |

Yes, CONVERGE can be used in shock wave capture and things like that. Actually, we have done a lot of supersonic/transonic cases. Remember to turn on the total energy solver for this type of simulations.
An example can be found here S.D. Wijeyakulasuriya & S. Mitra, Analyzing Three-Dimensional Multiple Shock-Flame Interactions in a Constant-Volume Combustion Channel. Combustion Science and Technology, Volume 186, Issue 12, 2014 Hope it helps. |
