Hello,
I have been trying to model wall film in a constant volume chamber, where I inject the fuel at 1500 bar. I want to understand how do we define film, and the film area. Is the film area equal to what I see the spreading over the impinging wall plane. I have a doubt about that, because I think that view will also count rebounded and splashed parcels.

Thanks
Nitisha

Hi Nitisha,

Based on the wall-film interaction model, a spray parcel might get converted to a film parcel. The total number of film parcels in a boundary node will then determine the film area (this is mostly the boundary cell face area forming the wall), and the film height.

Are you looking for an output of total film area, and area-averaged film thickness on a wall boundary?

Thanks, Yes, I am looking for total film area output and area averaged film thickness.

Which version of Converge are you using? You can send a request to support@convergecfd.com for a UDF to give the film height and film area output.

I am using converge 2.3. I have local film thickness.. but I cannot see anything in Ensight. I was hoping to get the final film area , and film isosurface after injection is over.

I will send the request.

Thanks
