Convergence cavitation simulation
Hey guys,
I have a general question about convergent behavior of a cavitation simulation. Which parameters do I usually use to confirm that my simulation is converged? Is it sufficient to consider the mass fraction of vapor? I am using the compressible liquid flow solver and the inflow mass flow rate always shows some fluctuations which decrease but it needs quite some time, especially for the refined simulations. But I noticed that the shape of the cavitation areas inside the nozzle do not really change. Is that a normal behavior for nozzle simulations that use compressible flow solver? Best regards |
Is there no one with any experience about cavitation simulations?

Hi friend,
I use incompressible pressure based solver. I generally set all scaled residuals to 1E-6. Once the continuity and vapour void fraction reaches, the solution is OK (by this time, all other residuals would have reached convergence already , in most cases). What you said is right. The solution will not change much once these two residuals reach 1E-4 to 1E-5 after sufficient number of iterations(say 1000). I don't have experience in compressible flow. |
