Hi guys,

I'm working on thesis work with Converge Studio, i'm a kinda beginner and I need your help. I'm focusing on dual fuel ignition using 2-gas mixture and n-heptane as primary fuel.

I have a box where i have a gas mixture. I need to initialise a specific amount of n-Heptane's parcels randomly distributed in a specific region of this cubic domain. Specifically I need to put this parcels in a sphere of specific dimension centered in the center of the aforementioned box (gas mixture is still present in the sphere) and i want the mean field velocity to be zero. The reason is that i want to see only the effect of turbulence.
For this reason it is not possible to use an injector (or multiple injection), even if I can specify dimension of droplets and everything in this way.

Do you have any suggestion?

I was thinking to create a new spherical region, but i think i will have problem with boundary conditions. Infact I want this spherical boundary just to initialize the distribution of parcels. After instant t=0, everything should be free to diffuse everywhere in the domain according to turbulence velocity field, and using OUTFLOW does not seem the best option.

Thanks to everyone who is going to answer.
I appreciate it!

TWIN,

I have a suggestion, you could use the option of spray mapping where you can from a file called spray_map.dat initialize the domain with parcels. In this spray_map.dat, the coordinates, velocity and other variables are specified for each parcel. This is an ASCII file so it is easy to change it with a text editor. You can find more information about spray mapping in our theory manual under Chapter 22.6. I hope this helps,

Jerome, thanks a lot for your help.
The problem was that i need to initialise a lot of droplets in this region, but i have an idea in order to do this process automatically.
However i need to create the spray_map.dat file on my own and i need to learn how to write it. Do you have a "fac-simile" file of the spray mapping? It would help a lot

Best.
