Hi

I am trying to printout single droplet radius and temperature in a constant volume chamber of ambient conditions 345K and 0.1MPa. Fuel is composed of 2 species.
I have turned off, collision and breakup flags, while evap flag is only on.
Number of parcels is 1 and the mass injected is same as droplet mass of experimental data.

The issue now is that within the parcel, number of droplets increase with time even though "breakup flag is 0".

Is there a way to stop that from within input files and keep the parcel composed of 1 droplet?

version: Converge-2.4.15

Thanks,

Hi Kabil,

Thanks for asking about this. Converge calculates the number of drops per parcel based upon parcel mass and droplet radius. Please check to see if you have adjusted the radius of the droplet to make sure that there is exactly 1 droplet per parcel. This approach, however, can be prone to precision error. A better approach to inject exactly 1 droplet would be to use spray mapping. When using spray mapping, in the spray_map.dat file you can specify the exact number of droplets, its radius, velocity, temperature and species mass fraction.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Thanks Karan,

I tried mapping as you advised but the problem is after the parcel is initialized.
I already got a single droplet radius at the first time steps same as experiments since i inserted the exact droplet mass from experiments into "spray.in". Then after 39 cycles in my case the number of droplets increased from 1 to more than 2000 which in turn decreased the parcel radius proportionally and the case crashed with "Segmentation fault".
Is there a routine in CONVERGE code that can cause that other than breakup !! If so which udf file i can use to turn it off.
