I am trying to model a screw compressor with compressible air as the fluid medium. I have a case where the contact between the mating parts in the gears is very minimal - almost zero.
I am in search of a commercial CFD software, that will be giving me the results I am looking for. Apparently meshing is the hardest part in a simulation like this. ANSYS nor Star CCM cannot give me the meshing capabilities I am looking for. ANSYS CFX can do it with external meshing software. Has any one tried using Converge CFD for screw compressor simulation. There is a video available on youtube for Converge, but wondering how long would it take. Also, my medium is compressible, so would like to know they are not using immersed solids (as the solution would be unrealiable) |

Hi,
Certainly, Converge can do such a problem with its powerful and convenient meshing approach and we have abundant experience on compressor-type simulations. As you said, we have a YouTube video showing a similar case. Converge does not use the immersed-boundary methods. Instead, we are using a cut-cell method which treats the solid as the real wall. If you are interested, you are more than welcome to contact us at support@convergecfd.com to discuss your case in details. Quote:
