Does anyone use software other than Studio to create live plots &/or a report with all pre-determined xy plots from the converge .out files?

I am looking in this as studio is far too slow. Currently looking into python script (its free), issues I see are;

- converting the .out files to .txt files
- reading the files for appropriate reading of columns and rows of data (rather than text at the top of each file)
- carrying out calculations on the raw data

Any input from user experience or random thoughts much appreciated

Hello EDE16, I'm using Matlab to plot a live data from .out file (possible to plot during the simulation). If you need it, I can provide you the script.

Hi EDE16, Tecplot also has 2-D plotting utilities that should help you with what you're doing.

Thanks,

- John

If i could specify 90°CA spacing on the x-axis or there would be some option like GT-Power has to specify the 4 strokes (Intake, Compression, Power, Exhaust), Studio would be perfect for me.

Yes completely agree with this! this should be a basic in any engine post processing ability. For me Studio needs the following;

1. Ability to define x-axis divisions. (Even better if can include strokes like GTPower)
2. Ability to define and save a format. background color, line colors, permanently remove converge logo.
3. Ability to actually deal with multiple plots and update over time. Software struggles so much.
4. Produce a report. Creating a company specific report template, with company logo.
5. Integration function in calculator, for additional representation of Walltime for example.

Im sure this list could be furthered, any other suggestions from people?

Yes I have seen this. Just not fond of Tecplot workflow being honest. You really need a full license to work well with it. The free license from Converge is too limited. Much prefer Paraview, its free, extremely powerful and graphics, legends, text fonts, everthing is just better.

Hello Pasachai, I may need the Matlab script you mentioned. If convenient, I hope you can provide it.
