Hello Everyone.

I have been working on dual-fuel combustion using converge CFD package.

When I run the simulation it gives me the errors which are shown below.

1.Error.out file shows this

[91mFATAL_ERROR: The common temperature is higher or equal to the highest temperature, please revise therm.dat.

2. In log.out file, I get this.

WARNING: Network latency not computed for single-node simulation.
reading inputs.in data from file inputs.in
reading engine.in data from file engine.in
reading amr.in data from file amr.in
turbulence_solver_flag = 1 in inputs.in; reading in turbulence.in.

Calculated log-law parameters in 4 iterations: E = 10.074425, yplus_transition = 11.266209 from law_kappa = 0.420000 and law_c = 5.500000

reading solver.in data from file solver.in

There are 175 reactions and 39 species.
reading species.in data from file species.in
Stack trace(s) written to abort_trace_rank[#].out

Due to these errors simulation is aborted.

I am not able to comprehend the errors. Everything is okay when I check the therm.dat file all temperatures are within the limit.

I have tried using different therm.dat files I encounter this error every time.

Can anyone help me to resolve this error?

I would appreciate your help.

Thanks and Regards
Arun

Hello Arun, thank you for asking about this. As a first fix attempt, I'd recommend to use the clean_therm tool in Converge Studio. This tool can be accessed from the "Tools -> Thermo data cleanup" menu. This tool will guide you through each of the encountered errors and either automatically correct them, or prompt you for the exact missing or incompatible data for each species. Please let us know any time if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for giving hint.
I did try what you had told.Therm.dat file seems okay, I did not get any error when I tried to clean it. , However, I am attaching the chemkin files which i have used. It would be a great help if you can try out and let me know.

Thanks

Hello Arun, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It looks like we need to fix two lines of the therm.dat. First, for line 50, replace with:

300.000 1000.000 5000.000

Then, for species 65, CH3C(O)OH, set the common temperature from 0 to 1000, so that line will look like:

CH3C(O)OH C 2H 4O 2 G 200.00 6000.00 1000.00 1

With these two changes, the case starts running okay with this mechanism and thermo data. Let us know any time if you have any more questions on the cases.

Best regards,
David
