Hello,

I am a Masters student looking to model hydrogen combustion in CONVERGE.

I am using the Gasoline Spark Ignition GDI model as a starting base, as I can't create STI files nor do I know how to use CAD. I know that the injector used in this example can only be applicable to liquid fuels rather than gaseous fuels, and from reading around this forum I realized that I need to create an inflow boundary to model gas injection. I was wondering how I can create this inflow boundary that looks like a nozzle on the Gasoline Spark Ignition GDI model without needing to use CAD software.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Aboudeh,

Converge studio does have an example of a hydrogen spark ignition case, which you can use it for your study. The case does have a gas inlet

File>Load example case>Internal Combustion Engines>Hydrogen spark ignition>Sandia hydrogen DI engine SAGE transient RANS.

I couldn't find this file, what I find when I go to File>Load example case>Internal Combustion Engines is only Gaslone_spark_ignition_gdi, Gasoline_spark_ignition_pfi, HSDI_diesel and heavy_duty_diesel. I can't find the hydrogen spark ignition option.

Hi Aboudeh,
I think you are not using the latest 3.0 version. Try going to our official site and download the latest available version, you should be able to access a lot more example cases.
